2008 Name the Foal Contest Prizes
This beautiful filly's daddy is the great sire "Awesome Again" who won over 4 Million and has sired eight Grade 1 winners including Ghostzapper, Wilko, Ginger Punch, Toccet and Spun Sugar. He is the only Breeders Cup winner to sire four Breeder's Cup winnters.
Her dam is Illinois Champion "Bonita Meadow" who was a real fan favorite on the tracks in Illinois, winning almost $350,000. Bonita Meadow has produced several stakes winners and her full sister Blue Stem Meadow produced Illinois 2 Year Old Champion, "Caruso."
This powerful looking filly has a lot of bone and substance. She comes from a very successful line of race horses on both her sire and dam side. She was born on April 5, 2008 and needs an awesome name!
This handsome colt's daddy is the young sire "Jump Start" who has 11 stakes winners under his belt already. In 2007 his progeny earnings were over 2 Million. "Jump Start" is sired by the world famous Horse of the Year, "A.P. Indy". "A.P. Indy" was the #2 Leading Sire in 2007 with 18 stakes winners, including, classic winner of over 1 Million, Rages to Riches.
The colt's dam "Lady Riss" was loved by all and one of Illinois's favorite fillies. She finished her racing career with earnings over $325,000. Lady Riss was the first horse to ever win $100,000 in a single year and was voted Champion each year she raced at Fairmount Park. A true Champion, she proved her strength by competing and winning against the colts too! She raced until age 5 and won or placed in ten stakes race.
This athletic colt is very smart and has a personality to match. His pedigree is deep and matchless. He was born on April 3, 2008 and needs a name that jumps off the page!
The winners of the '2008" Name the Foal Contest" will receive, not only the excitement of having the unique chance of picking the name of a Thoroughbred Race horse, but also have an opportunity to get updates on their progress along with photos up until the time of its debut on the tract. And if the racing god's are on the filly's or colt's side, the winners will be invited into the winner's circle with the owners, trainers and jockeys. In addition, the winners will receive a copy of the offical Jockey Club registration certificate with the foal's name and a copy of the foal's pedigree.
The winning submitters will each be treated to a day at the races at Arlington Park (filly winner) or Fairmount Park (colt winner). A Goodie bag will also be included compliments of the ITBOF and the designated tracks and a year's subscription to the "Illinois Racing News" and the "Blood Horse" magazine. In addition, winners will be able to have a virtual stable on line so they can follow the progress of the filly and colt during work outs or breezes on the track.
You can't win if you don't try so, "Get In the Gate!" and name those foals!
